bleaching di padangKawasan 3 Gili, Lombok( Gili Terawangan,Gili Air, dan Gili Meno) bertahan terhadap pemutihan karang (coral bleaching). Hasil pengamatan yang dilakukan pada 14 July kemarin, menunjukkan bahwa kondisi terumbu karang berangsur angsur membaik dan suhu juga sudah kembali normal pada kisaran 28-29 celcius.

Survey di kawasan Gili ini dilakukan oleh Reef Check Indonesia dengan bekerjasama dengan dive operator lokal yaitu Oceans 5 Gili air dan Blue Marlin Gili.

Sebelumnya, pemantauan sejak Mei hingga Juni, suhu di perairan Gili mencapi 30 hingga 31 dan mengakibatkan beberapa lokasi mengalami bleaching hingga 20%.  2 lokasi yang disurvey yaitu terumbu di depan Villa Ombak dan di utara Hans Reef mengalami bleaching hingga 50%.

Berikut hasil laporan kejadian pemutihan karang yang dikumpulkan dari berbagai sumber di Indonesia tahun 2010. Kejadian pemutihan karang tersebar di beberapa lokasi dari Sabang sampai Papua. Besarnya kualitas pemutihan karang bervariasi. Form laporan dapat diunduh RB_coral_bleaching_form. Untuk melaporkan kejadian pemutihan karang (form,foto,dll) kirim email ke rcindonesia@reefcheck.org. Terdapat beberapa tips-tips sederhana di daerah yang terkena pemutihan karang.

Almost all colonies of Seriatopora were white and other taxa with high percentage of white / moderate colonies include Goniopora, Stylopora and encrusting forms of Montipora. In addition 20-30% of colonies of Pocillopora, non-AcroporaAcropora palifera were also classified as moderate to white. Least affected taxa included branching forms of Acropora
